Glossary
Alphabetical, brief definitions, link to the relevant article when there's more to say.
Audit log. Append-only record of meaningful actions in the system (band created, invite accepted, song deleted). Survives account deletion (anonymized).
Band. The unit Loadout organizes around. One band per gig. One account can be in many bands.
Band slug. Short URL-safe identifier for your band, like the-setlist-surgeons. Used in URLs like loadout.band/[bandSlug]. Auto-generated from your band name at creation time.
BPM. Beats per minute. Used for the metronome, autoscroll pacing fallback math, and the AI setlist generator.
Broadcast click. The leader broadcasting their metronome state (BPM, downbeat phase, sound) to every follower's device via the same sync channel as song position. See Metronome on stage.
ChordPro. Plain-text format for chord charts. Chords go in [brackets] inline with lyrics. See ChordPro basics.
Connected tier. Loadout Tips. The Stripe Connect Express path where Loadout takes 2% per tip. See Loadout Tips setup.
Destination charge. Stripe terminology — the payment-intent pattern Loadout uses for connected tips. transfer_data.destination and on_behalf_of both point at the band's Stripe account, so processing fees come out of the band's transfer.
Dispute. When a fan contacts their card issuer instead of asking the band for a refund. Different (worse) than a refund. 5 in 30 days auto-disables tipping. See Refunds.
DO / Durable Object. Cloudflare's coordination primitive. Loadout uses one (GIG_SYNC) for the live stage-view band-sync channel.
Follow mode. The line-highlight pointer mode where the play-head tracks lyric timing automatically. The default. See Stage view overview.
Free tier. External handles. Venmo / Cash App / PayPal links displayed on your public pages. Loadout takes 0%. See External handles.
Gig. One event (one date, one venue, one setlist). Carries you from inquiry through played. See Gigs overview.
Gig slug. Short URL-safe identifier for a specific gig, like pressbox-2026-06-01. Used in the public request URL loadout.band/[bandSlug]/r/[gigSlug].
Instant Payout. Stripe product that would push your available balance to a linked debit card within ~30 minutes for a 1.5% fee. Not yet enabled on Loadout's platform; see Balance and payouts for the standard rolling payout path that's live today.
Leader. The band member whose stage view changes broadcast to the others. Anyone can claim; only one leader at a time. See Band sync.
LRCLib. Open lyric-timing database Loadout queries for line-level timestamps. When LRCLib has timing for a song, Follow mode uses real timestamps instead of a BPM-derived fallback.
Member / Admin / Owner. The three band roles. Member = full app access. Admin = also invites + band settings. Owner = also delete band + transfer ownership. See Inviting bandmates.
Payout. Stripe moving available balance from your connected account to your bank. Standard (free, rolling daily) is the only path live today. See Balance and payouts.
Public band page. Your loadout.band/[bandSlug] URL. Optional. Toggle via Band settings → Public page. Shows bio, gigs, tip handles, and (if enabled) audience-request entry.
Section pill. The colored verse/chorus/bridge badge in the stage view's now/next strip. Chorus is the accent color; bridge is amber; verse is contrast.
Setlist. Ordered list of songs (and breaks) for one gig. See Setlists overview.
Setlist template. A setlist marked as a reusable pattern. Clone for new gigs. See Setlist templates.
Stage view. The on-gig surface — chart, autoscroll, line follow, gestures, sync. The thing your phone shows during the show. See Stage view overview.
Tap mode. A line-pointer mode where the highlight only moves when you tap a line. No play-head. See Stage view overview.
Tip. Money a fan sends a band. Two paths: external handles (free tier, 0%) or Loadout Tips (connected tier, 2%). See Tipping overview.
Turnstile. Cloudflare's invisible CAPTCHA. Used on the public audience-request form.
Wake lock. Browser API that prevents the device from sleeping. Always on in the stage view.
